Grubba Software Announces TrueGrain for Windows

Cary, North Carolina—October 16, 2007—Grubba Software today announced the immediate availability of their TrueGrain image processing software for Windows. Initially released in September 2007 for the Macintosh platform, TrueGrain is a professional creative tool for accurately recapturing the aesthetics of black & white film with digital photography.

“We began hearing from interested Windows users the very day we launched TrueGrain for the Mac. A mere month later, we’re delighted to offer an identical version of TrueGrain for Windows,” said Grubba Software collaborator Martin Doudoroff.

The TrueGrain software contains a library of grain samples and profiles for a number of classic film stocks, some of which are no longer available and are unlikely to be available in the future. TrueGrain users can easily import high resolution digital imagery—such as that produced with today’s professional DSLR cameras—and immediately see a close approximation of how the image would look if it had been exposed using any of the film stocks in TrueGrain’s library, right down to the fine grain structure details only visible under magnification.

The primary application for TrueGrain is as a creative tool. In addition, TrueGrain has the potential to improve large prints of up-scaled digital images, and may prove useful for matching existing film images in restoration and compositing situations.

Grubba Software separately announced the availability of Film Pack 2—containing three new films for all TrueGrain customers—and a minor software update that adds the ability to create custom parameter presets.

Pricing and availability: TrueGrain for Windows is now available for US$300 through the TrueGrain web site at https://grubbasoftware.com. A downloadable demo edition is also available. TrueGrain for Windows requires Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later and at least 2GB RAM.

Grubba Software is an independent software developer based in Cary, North Carolina. TrueGrain is Grubba Software's first product.
